The clothes I wear in winter
Protect me from the world
Lots of layers keep me safe
A scarf pulled high protects my face
And a big thick coat hides my body
Keeping the world at bay
Kept safe from all external woes
I go with confidence and clarity
With strength and purpose
But when the summer comes
I’m naked for all the world to see
T-shirts and shorts are not for me
Exposed and vulnerable is what I’ll be
So I’ll hold out for the winter
And safety
