rapunzel was love
and snow white too
even the A-team had some

rocky punched frozen meat
and got love
and it was ever present
but in my house

it got held
in front of me
in the same way
as does the home
and the job
and the lounging cats
that we give earthy names
and laugh at in blurry contentedness
when they look at us so disapprovingly
and purr

and
much like those dream laden cats
i stalked love
and waited
and hoped

and much like those marmalade cats
i found love
and caught love

and much like those cats
through the back door i dragged love
and much like those cats i was lost

and i looked to the owner
with disdain
and i looked at the owner
with bitter displeasure

for i'd broken its wings
and it didn't taste good
and i slunk
unrequited
and famished
