Title: Downer

So many people
weeping
Worn embraces
Shit spit forlorn faces
Pretence
hence
torn

What are we doing here?

I read
today
about a gene
Could be eliminated
or so it seems
by rejecting
corrupted cells

Oh good
All’s well then

Stem the cells
and to HELL
with those
unfit

Zit
you’re OUT
Got no clout
in this world

World UP
those smug
bastards
Self-righteous
preservation

Is it
what
this nation
NEEDS?

Who knows?
Smells of greed
to me

And pomposity

Look how clever
YOU are all
Hide the blemish
Smooth the scar

Then ask why
the tears still
FALL
