Title: Drawing in

August - mid way between
yellow and gold ;
when crispness fills the air,
yet the sky is still heavy with sun.
Sometimes, after an unexpected
late afternoon shower,
God puts on a show -
a beautiful double rainbow,
twin bridges to heaven
that confirm all existence.

Soon now, the wild geese will fly,
dressed in all their finery and
carried effortlessly on the wind
as they journey to far horizons.
Always, I look up, a tiny speck
beneath the shadow of their wings ;
Charting their course and wondering
if I am flying in the right direction,
as I dream of those far horizons
and watch the days whirl by like planets.
