Title: Abandoned

Drawn, extracted from your womb.
no happy, joyful birth.
For me there was no love, no room,
for me no time on earth.

No loving parents waiting there
to greet my mortal state.
No happiness for all to share,
a clinic sealed my fate.

Not for me to learn and grow,
to love and laugh and walk.
No joy of life for me to know,
no friends to meet and talk.

But I will stay within your mind
persistently to taunt you
for I’m the foetus left behind
forevermore to haunt you.

Maternal needs and whims reverse
as time and tide advances
but Nature may not be coerced
to favour second chances.
