Nigel James Wilson

Profile for Nigel James Wilson

Nigel James Wilson was born on the 20th of May 1966 in Sheffield, Northern England. Son of James Fredrick Wilson, a sapper in the Royal Engineers, who, after surviving being left at Dunkirk during the Second World War, established J.F.Wilson Cycle Manufacturers in 1948. (See Lemonade and Turnips on Nigel's website www.wilsoncycles.co.uk Click on points of view.)

Nigel, like his father, cycle raced at some of the highest levels in Britain and Germany; up until the end of 2003, when, after 22 successive seasons of racing he was brought to account for his efforts.

Luckily for NJW a latent talent for poetry had shown itself by December 2001, 7 years after his father's death in 1994, and in response to an awareness and a need to note and promote his thoughts, driven from a relatively unique perspective by observations on life.

Nigel Wilson was Yorkshire's 100 Mile Time Trailing Champion, giving him 9th place overall in the National 100 Mile TT Championships - (Here not specializing and only using a normal road bike with no Tri-bars!).

He also took the Silver Medal in the North Midlands Road Race Championships, and to show his versatility still further, this picture shows Wilson Winning the Sheffield City Centre Cycle Race in front of an home crowd, after breaking away alone with three laps to go!
